No. If a number calling you matches a contact saved on your phone, Tu dégages always lets the call through — even if that number is also in the spam database or in your custom rules.
This check requires contacts access permission, requested the first time you launch the app.
The risk is low: an unknown number is only blocked if it's in the spam database (known prefixes, community reports) or in one of your manual rules — not a typical customer service or delivery number.
If the call still gets blocked, it remains visible in the History tab with the number and time: you can call back, then tap ✅ "Not spam" so it's never blocked again.
If you're expecting an important call and want zero risk, temporarily disable protection from the home screen during the call, then re-enable it afterwards.
Tu dégages automatically intercepts calls from known telemarketing numbers, plays them a voice message, then hangs up — without your phone ever ringing.
You save time and energy by never having to pick up to hear a robot offer you a fitted kitchen.
Some competing apps claim to block, in bulk, numbers belonging to VoIP carriers (Aircall, Vonage, Manifone, Tata Communications, CM Telecom, etc.).
Tu dégages made the opposite choice, and here's why:
These carriers are general-purpose VoIP providers, not "spam carriers". They are used:
❌ by telemarketing call centers,
✅ but also by legitimate businesses: customer support, deliveries, medical appointments, tradespeople, etc.
If we blocked "all of Aircall" or "all of Vonage", we'd also block these legitimate calls — a big risk of false positives and complaints ("why can't my delivery driver reach me?!").
The right approach is the one we built: the community database (see below) captures numbers actually reported as spam by users, regardless of the carrier behind them — without ever blocking legitimate uses of the same carrier.
Tu dégages prefers precise, reliable blocking rather than a blunt rejection made to impress.
This is a common technique used by telemarketing call centers: they call back repeatedly if you don't answer, sometimes from numbers not (yet) known as spam.
Tu dégages automatically detects these bursts: if the same unknown number calls you 3 times or more within 30 minutes, it is automatically added to your personal spam database and all its subsequent calls are silently rejected.
This mechanism only applies to numbers calling in bursts — a single call from a delivery driver, doctor or relative is never affected. And as always, if a number is blocked by mistake, the ✅ "Not spam" icon in History lets you unblock it in one tap.
1. Open Tu dégages.
2. Make sure the protection switch is ON (green) on the home screen.
3. That's it. Tu dégages works in the background.
Go to the "Replies" tab to choose the tone of the reply:
😇 Polite — courteous and firm reply. Ideal if you prefer to stay discreet.
💼 Pro — formal, polished tone, like a real corporate customer service.
😊 Friendly — warm and friendly, to say no without ever offending anyone.
⚡ Direct — short and to the point, the bare minimum.
😂 Humour — a touch of the absurd to lighten the mood.
😏 Sarcastic — humorous reply. For telemarketers who deserve a bit of irony.
😈 Troll — a fake, absurd procedure that wastes the most persistent callers' time and money.
🤖 Robot — cold, automated reply, calculated as a percentage.
🥶 Cold — minimal, with no justification or extras.
🔥 Scathing — blunt, almost hurtful, for the most insistent callers.
In Settings → Customize replies, you can:
• Enable or disable each existing phrase.
• Add your own custom phrases.
• Use the Message Builder to compose a message in 3 parts: greeting + body + closing.
In Settings → Voice settings:
• Choose the voice (depending on the voices installed on your phone).
• Adjust the speech rate (from slow to fast).
• Change the pitch of the voice (low or high).
• Test the result with the preview button.
Yes! In Settings, choose your country (🇫🇷 France or 🇨🇭 Switzerland) at the top of the list.
In Switzerland, Tu dégages notably detects:
• Premium-rate numbers (0900, 0901, 0906) — business, marketing and entertainment, individually assigned by OFCOM.
• National shared-cost business numbers (0840, 0842, 0844, 0848, 0878) — often used as redirect numbers by call centers and commercial hotlines.
The community database and your personal history work exactly the same way, regardless of the chosen country.
Yes. In Settings, just below the country selector, choose the "Voice message language": 🇫🇷 Français, 🇩🇪 Deutsch, 🇮🇹 Italiano, 🇬🇧 English or 🇪🇸 Español.
In the chosen language, Tu dégages plays a fixed message adapted to the active mode (10 tones to choose from), with a matching voice if your phone offers one.
This setting does not change the language of the app itself, which stays in your chosen interface language — only the message heard by the telemarketer changes.
Tu dégages combines several sources:
• Documented ARCEP ranges: 52 French prefixes officially assigned to telemarketing.
• Tu dégages community database: numbers reported by users (opt-in).
• Your personal history: any number that has called you and been treated as spam.
When you block a number and have enabled "Community database" in Settings, that number is sent — anonymously, without any of your data — to a shared server.
All other Tu dégages users then retrieve this number and automatically reject it, without even playing the voice message. The more users there are, the more effective the database is for everyone.
This retrieval happens automatically, silently, once a day when the app is opened — you don't have to do anything. The "Update spam database" button in Settings simply forces an immediate update.
No. Every reported number is tagged with its country's international calling code (+33 France, +41 Switzerland, +44 United Kingdom, +49 Germany, +39 Italy, +34 Spain). Your phone only ever downloads and compares numbers from your own country.
This isolation rules out any cross-country mix-up: two numbers that look alike in two different countries (for example, a French number and a German number with exactly the same digit sequence in national format) will never be confused with each other. The community database stays accurate and reliable, no matter how many countries use Tu dégages.
A number is blocked if it belongs to a known telemarketing ARCEP range, if it has already called you and been treated as spam, or if it has been reported by the community.
Tu dégages never blocks a number simply because it belongs to a particular telecom carrier — see "Why don't we block an entire carrier" above.
"Wangiri" is a scam where you receive a single, brief call from an expensive foreign number, hoping you'll call back out of curiosity — which charges you high international call fees.
Tu dégages detects certain international calling codes particularly associated with this scam (Latvia, Moldova, several Pacific islands, satellite telephony) and rejects these calls immediately and silently, without even ringing your phone. This is intentional: unlike telemarketing, the Wangiri scam relies on the missed call that tempts you to call back — by never showing it as missed, the temptation to call back disappears.
This list is deliberately limited to calling codes without significant diaspora communities in Europe, to avoid mistakenly blocking a legitimate family call. If a number is wrongly rejected, you can add it to your whitelist in Settings.
No, and that's intentional. A number is removed from the local database after 18 months with no confirmed activity (no call received from it, and no more reports from the community).
This expiry protects against phone number recycling: a carrier may reassign a number once used by a call centre to a new subscriber years later — without this cleanup, that new subscriber would stay blocked indefinitely for a fault that isn't theirs.
A number that's still active never disappears from the database: every call you receive or every new community report pushes the deadline back.
Yes! In Settings → Manually blocked numbers, you can add your own rules:
• Exact number: blocks only this specific number (e.g. 0612345678).
• Prefix: blocks all numbers starting with this digit sequence (e.g. 0033612 blocks all numbers starting that way).
These rules are added on top of the automatic spam database: any matching call is rejected immediately, without a voice message. You can remove a rule at any time from the same screen.
The History tab lists all blocked calls:
• Detected phone number.
• Date and time of the block.
• Mode used to reply.
• Exact message played to the caller.
Use the filters (All / Blocked / Replies / Manual) to refine the display. Delete an entry with the 🗑️ icon.
Yes. In the History tab, tap the ⬇️ icon at the top of the screen: a CSV file (number, date, mode, message played) is generated and you can save it or send it by email via the Android share menu.
This export is purely personal: it serves as a record or proof, for example for an official report. It sends nothing to Tu dégages or anyone else.
The Statistics tab shows:
• Total time saved (circular chart).
• Total number of spammers blocked since installation.
• Average calls avoided per day.
• Average duration of a telemarketing call avoided.
In Settings:
• Auto-answer: Tu dégages answers the call without making your phone ring (recommended).
• Block after reply: adds the number to your personal blacklist after each interaction.
• Notifications: if enabled, you receive an Android notification for every blocked call (number and reason for blocking).
Tu dégages adds a tile to Android's quick settings panel (the one you open by swiping down with two fingers from the top of the screen, next to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth).
To add it: open the quick settings panel, tap the pencil ✏️ (or "Edit"), then drag the "Tu dégages" tile to your active tiles.
Tapping the tile instantly enables or disables protection, without needing to open the app.
Go to the History tab, find the call in question and tap the ✅ "Not spam" icon.
This number is then immediately removed from your spam database and custom rules, and added to your local whitelist: it will never be blocked again on your phone, even if a spam database update reintroduces it.
No email to send, no waiting: everything happens directly on your phone, in your local database — it works even without an internet connection and takes effect from the next call.
If you're expecting an important call from an unknown number, you can also temporarily disable protection (home screen) for the duration of the call.
If you're the owner of a business number wrongly reported to the shared community database (not just on your own phone), the "Not spam" button only fixes the issue locally. To request removal from the shared database, contact us at contact@tudegages.fr with the number in question.
Spoofing (a spammer displaying a fake number, sometimes yours or a relative's) is a phone network issue that Tu dégages cannot fix: the app only sees the number displayed by the carrier.
If you receive calls showing your own number or a spoofed number, reporting it to your carrier or to 33700 (anti-fraud SMS/call service in France) remains the most effective solution.
1. Check that protection is enabled (home screen).
2. Check that Tu dégages is set as the default caller ID app (Android Settings → Apps → Default apps → Caller ID and spam app).
3. Update the spam database manually: Settings → Update spam database.
4. If the number keeps calling after that, it will be remembered after the first block and rejected automatically next time.
5. You can also add it immediately to your personal list (Anti-spam database → Manually blocked numbers): it will be blocked from the next call, and reported to the community database if that option is enabled.
No. Tu dégages plays its own message to the caller and then hangs up — the caller does not have access to your usual voicemail for this call.
This is intentional: a telemarketer who can neither talk to you nor leave a message has much less reason to call back.
If Tu dégages isn't blocking calls, check:
1. Protection is set to ON (home screen).
2. Tu dégages is set as the call screening service: Android Settings → Apps → Default apps → Caller ID and spam app → Select Tu dégages.
3. Phone permissions are granted to Tu dégages.
No. Tu dégages doesn't run continuously in the background: Android only wakes the app at the exact moment a call comes in, via the system's call screening service.
Outside of calls, the app is completely inactive. The only network activity happens when the spam database is updated (manually or when the app opens).
By default, Tu dégages collects and transmits no data: everything stays on your phone.
If you enable the community database (opt-in), only the spam caller's number is sent to a server hosted in Europe — never your number or personal information. Full details are in About → Privacy policy.
You can write to us directly at the contact address shown in About. Describe the issue (phone model, Android version, what happened) — it helps us a lot to improve Tu dégages.
